About the Program

The Leadership Program of the Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce is an amazing opportunity to hone your leadership skills, learn about the history and governance of Allen, Fairview and Collin County, and discover how you can become more involved in your community. During the program you will become knowledgeable about local concerns and resources, extend your professional network, and gain valuable project and team leadership experience through an introduction to the various aspects of developing and maintaining a vibrant community and establishing dialogue with a wide range of community leaders.

Active participation in activities that contribute to the betterment of Allen and/or Fairview; and enhancing your knowledge and leadership skills in order to benefit your employer and have a positive impact on the business community.

The nine-month program is designed to identify, motivate, and develop business and community leaders who can contribute more effectively to the companies they work for and to instill a sense of community and the importance of volunteerism. Each month participants are introduced to a different aspect of Allen, Fairview and Collin County. These aspects include city government and services, education, health and human services, economic development and justice and law enforcement.

In addition, participants have the opportunity to build their leadership skills through targeted leadership skills development programming each month as well as two full days of leadership training and team building. By committing just one Thursday each month you will accelerate your professional career, discover the value of community volunteerism and build lifelong friendships.

Costs associated with the program are held to a minimum thanks to the support of the Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce and the Alumni company sponsorships. The application fee is $50. Tuition for the entire 9 month program is reviewed annually and posted below and detailed on the application form.

Application Process

JUNE 30, 2023 DEADLINE FOR 2023-2024 CLASS

The Leadership program of the Allen Fairview Chamber is open to all Allen or Fairview residents or members of the Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce. An admission application is available on this site, at the Chamber of Commerce, 210 West McDermott, or by calling 972-727-5585. The makeup of each Leadership class is carefully considered to ensure that it is broad based, representing a variety of professional, economic, social and ethnic backgrounds. Because class size is limited, this means that many highly qualified applicants may not be placed the first year they apply. However, the program coordinators will do their best to accommodate all applicants whenever possible.

The Leadership Allen Fairview program is designed for demonstrated leaders who have a history of involvement in the community. We look for individuals with a commitment to ongoing personal development and a strong desire to continue their service.

Program Details

The Leadership class meets one day per month, from October through May from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants also attend a day and a half orientation program and complete a class project of their own choosing during the year, but outside of the class time.

Program Cost

Total cost for the 9-month program is determined by the Chamber annually after careful review of proposed programs and associated costs.  A $50 non-refundable application fee is required of all applicants.  If applicant is not chosen for the class, the application fee may be refunded upon request. Tuition, which includes a class polo shirt, is $900 for Chamber members/$1000 for non-members and includes lunches, speaker fees, materials and transportation when necessary.
